2018 Spring Youth Season InformationUpdated Tuesday December 5, 2017 by Sal Carpita.
We are excited to announce that online registration for the 2018 youth spring lacrosse season is now open. Registration will be open through February 28, 2018.
For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, lacrosse is a fast paced, action packed contact sport that combines the field sense of soccer, the teamwork of basketball, and the thrill of hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse, regardless of size. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility.
Lacrosse (often abbreviated as “LAX” for shorthand) is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation with new and growing programs at all our area high schools.
Now in our 11th season, WALA is proud to be one of the largest community lacrosse programs in Northern Illinois.
Registration fees for Spring Lacrosse
Spring Youth Lacrosse registration is $280. The registration fee includes uniform (jersey/shorts), shooter shirt, and military shorts.
If you sign-up on or before December 31, 2017, you will receive an early bird discount of $25.
Don’t wait – register online now to get the early bird discount.
Players are responsible for all equipment. Players are required to wear a helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, and gloves that are designed for lacrosse in addition to a mouth guard and athletic protective cup.
Lacrosse sticks and protective equipment can be found at all major sporting goods retailers. Gently used equipment can be found at Play It Again Sports. The Evanston Play It Again Sports store offers a lacrosse equipment rental package. Please contact the store directly for details.
There is a fund raising requirement. During registration you can opt out of the fund raising activity by paying $50, or you can choose to sell Butter Braids and other tasty treats. If you choose to sell, you must sell a minimum amount and will receive detailed information in a follow up message.
WALA always welcomes parent volunteers; our long term success has been a direct result of the great support of the WALA community. As we continue to grow we are specifically looking to expand our parent coaching staff. Moms or dads that are familiar with the sport and have some playing experience are encouraged to volunteer their time and talent. Even if you do not have experience with the sport you are welcome to volunteer as we will provide information and instruction.
